Pores

1 products

Pores are the openings of hair follicles and the oil glands attached to them, and everybody has them. Their baseline size is set mostly by genetics and by how much oil your skin produces. Nothing topical opens or closes them, since they have no muscles, and the steam-and-cold-water routine is a myth about a mechanism that does not exist. What does change is how visible they look, and three things drive that. Pores filled with a mix of oil and dead cells appear wider and darker, so keeping them clear matters. Loss of firmness around the opening, driven mainly by sun damage over years, makes pores look stretched and elongated on the cheeks. And oil output itself changes how much light the surface catches.Products help along each of those lines. Salicylic acid, a lipid-soluble exfoliant, clears the inside of the pore. Niacinamide has research behind it for reducing the appearance of enlarged pores and moderating surface oil. Retinoids improve the texture and firmness of the surrounding skin over months. Lightweight gel textures and centella-based formulas keep oily skin comfortable without heavy occlusion. Sunscreen preserves the firmness that keeps pores looking tight.Brand claims about shrinking, minimizing or refining pores refer to appearance. That is a real and achievable outcome, but a permanently different pore size is not. Over-cleansing and harsh scrubs tend to backfire, since irritated skin often produces more oil and looks rougher.Expect gradual change over six to twelve weeks, and treat consistency as the active ingredient. Two to consider: the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Poremizing Light Gel Cream and the niacinamide-led Anua Niacinamide 10% + TXA 4% Dark Spot Serum.
